BIOGRAPHIE
|
Né à San Francisco en 1957, d'origine danoise, Andreas Mortensen obtient son baccalauréat en France en 1975. Il devient élève ingénieur de l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris après deux années de classes préparatoires à Versailles, et sera diplômé ingénieur civil en 1980. Il poursuit ensuite ses études dans le Département de Science et Génie des Matériaux du MIT, pour y obtenir son Ph.D. en 1986. Aprés un séjour de cinq mois chez Nippon Steel au Japon, il revient au MIT comme assistant professor. Il y est promu en 1990 et en 1992, et devient professor en 1995. Il entre en fonction comme professeur au Département des Matériaux de l'EPFL le 1er janvier 1997, pour y être responsable du Laboratoire de métallurgie mécanique (LMM), et y enseigner la métallurgie et le comportement mécanique des matériaux. Il est auteur ou co-auteur de 180 articles scientifiques environ, deux monographes et douze brevets.
